LIFE & FERTILITY / METADATA ART
2022

I have always been intrigued by water lilies, because of the beauty they bring to an often less beautiful environment, which gives them something mysterious and enchanting. Her luxuriant vigor made her the symbol of life and the fertility of the earth. She was also the symbol of the sun rising amidst the ocean's waves. The round leaf represents the movement of the intellect and the ability to grow cleanly above the mud in which it grows. On September 2, 2022, I saw a beautiful water lily on a pond in a park, but I didn't have a camera with me so I couldn't make any images of it. Back in the studio, I wondered if AI systems couldn't generate a perfect image.
The images below were created and generated using Meta Data, AI, and digital techniques. The metadata available on millions of images worldwide is enormous. We can use this information to analyze how we as a society view the world and the things that surround us.
The number of variations we can create is endless. With photography, one often uses digital techniques to zoom in on the image to isolate the subject from its surroundings. We did the opposite with AI: we created the subject's ideal environment.
What would happen if we asked the algorithm to make a new variation of the previous one over and over again? Can't we then return the subject to its essence?
"This piece portrays a serene water garden scene, where lush green lily pads float gently on the surface, interspersed with delicate water lilies in bloom. The composition's natural stillness is contrasted by the rich variety of organic shapes and the vibrant hues of the flowers, standing out against the dark, reflective water. Subtle details, like fallen leaves and the soft ripples on the pond, add texture and depth. The image captures the quiet beauty of nature, inviting contemplation and a deeper appreciation for the intricate patterns found in aquatic life. Themes of tranquility and natural harmony resonate throughout." quote ChatGPT4
